Leave tree care to a specialist
Don’t be fooled by imitators that call themselves “arborists”. Ask the person who’s providing you the estimate if he/she is certified and active with the ISA or TCIA. Just as important is to ask if the crew are ISA certified tree workers and follow ANSI A300 standards. If not, buyer beware! All too often we are asked to repair trees improperly pruned by a landscaper or gardener without insurance or workers compensation. Poor pruning like improper cuts in the wrong order can cause irreparable damage and possibly kill the tree.

Removing a Giant Sequoia at Lancaster City Hall
May 24, 2018 was a sad day for tree lovers in Lancaster, CA. It was the day City Hall’s Giant Sequoia tree was removed.
This magnificent 60′ tree was planted in the 1980s and thrived for decades. Then just a few years ago it started to develop health issues.
City officials contacted Tip Tip Arborists to assess the tree’s condition. The decision was made to have it removed and replaced with a Deodar Cedar.
The new tree, in a 48″ box, was selected by a grower out of Somis/Simi Valley and transported to the City yard where it stayed until planted. This was so it would acclimate to the new environmental conditions.
The planting site was prepared on Oct 11, 2018 and the installation, aided with a 60 ton crane, was completed the next day.
When the Giant Sequoia was removed, it was limbed from bottom to top. After all limbs were removed and chipped, the trunk was removed from the top down in segments. These segments were stored at the City yard where they will be milled/processed into benches to be used at various projects.
Local reviews for Lancaster, CA
In the City Hall example discussed earlier, a Giant Sequoia tree had to be removed due to health reasons. There are other occasions, however, when tree removal may be the only course of action such as clearing an area for new construction or removing a fallen tree obstructing travel.
Similarly when tree branches are not pruned they may become more than just a nuisance. They may be hazardous by damaging property. For reasons of aesthetics, safety or health, tree pruning is necessary.

This company was excellent. I needed two dead trees removed that were hitting telephone wires as well as branches cut from a third tree which they threw in for free. Every other company was charging ridiculous rates . They provided the best rates and the service was quick and done perfectly. They left me with firewood for the winter.
